“Danielsen” company, located in Copenhagen for more than three decades, is one of the pioneers of BIM in the Nordic region.
Danielsen in 1987. was founded by Kasper Danielsen and today employs more than 70 people in its Stockholm office and company-designed headquarters in Copenhagen. Danielsen Architecture (1987) creates functionalist architecture, Danielsen Space Planning (2001) advises companies on interior design and design, and Danielsen Urban Landscape (2015) creates and shapes landscape architecture.

New Nordic Functionalism
Founder and CEO Kasper Danielsena explains why he brought together three companies under the Danielsen name: “Architecture is more than buildings. We believe that good architecture is functional in relation to the situation, which includes buildings, interior spaces and the environment.”
Kasper Danielsen admits that the Danish heritage influences Danielsen’s unique approach to all their projects: “Our work is inseparable from the new Nordic functionalism and the idea that architecture is created from within.”
Detailed analysis of each project, respectful cooperation with contractors, clients and users is an inevitable part of sustainable and value-added architecture.
North by nature: Myrholm Apartments
The “Myrholm” project is a modern canal quarter in the former industrial port area of Copenhagen, Enghave Brygge.
Danielsen Architecture’s design of a classic Copenhagen neighborhood is inspired by new Nordic design. Based on the idea of the new Nordic functionalism, buildings are designed with priority given to functionality and comfort.
The modern facades of Myrholm apartments are made of light but durable materials. A unique window design with large floor-to-ceiling windows ensures maximum natural light. Each apartment has its own balcony or roof terrace with spectacular views of the former harbor area and canals. Green areas and paths allow residents to enjoy the waterfront.
“We live and work in the north, so our northern context accompanies us in the design as well. The plants we plant, the materials we build with, and the spaces we create are Nordic in nature. Everything we do reflects our Nordic mindset. New Nordic functionalism also means that functionality is at the heart of our projects, with users as the main actors in all our design processes. This is the quality of the project” – therefore, according to Kasper Danielsen, “Myrholm” is a good example of the new Nordic functionalism.
Solibri – assured quality and a peaceful night’s sleep
An open and dialogue-based approach means that every project is carried out together with many interested parties. Therefore, quality assurance, error control and collaboration become the most important issues in every project. In a large residential project like Myrholm, it is especially important to avoid unpleasant surprises on the construction site.
For large, complex projects and given the demands of the modern building, it’s important to have the right technology and processes in place to ensure that all parties are working towards a common goal from the time the first 3D models are exchanged until the contractors leave the construction site.
Danielsen since its first project in 1987. uses ARCHICAD, and later started using Solibiri software in the BIM workflow .
“Given the specific requirements for quality assurance and conflict detection, Solibri Model Checker was the obvious choice.” – says Danielsen Architecture architect Nadeen El Erkessousi.
Nadeen El Erkessousi points out that using Solibri leads to fewer problems during construction, which clearly has a positive impact on the overall construction budget.
